Peugeot 309 ?

Peugeot 309 should be the natural successor of peugeot 308, but...
Peugeot 309 was designed and manufactured by Peugeot between 1985 and 1993, and between 1994 and 1997 in India by PAL-Peugeot Ltd. The 309 was originally intended to be badged as a Talbot and, as development progressed, to be called the Talbot Arizona; it was the replacement for the Simca-based Horizon. Obviously there will be no more the "all-new" Peugeot 309 .
As the gap between Peugeot 20-series and 30-series is getting narrower, most likely PSA will discontinue Peugeot 30-series just like what they had decided on Peugeot 40-series. Probably PSA shall only produce 20-series [super mini], 50-series [executive] , 70-series [Luxury Sedan?] in the future.

Better get Peugeot 308's NOW - while they're still red-hot!

Coming Soon! Peugeot 308 "Stop & Start"
PSA just calls it Peugeot 308 "Stop & Start". The car, which was presented at the Paris Motor Show, is powered by a standard non-turbo 1.6-liter engine. Equipped with the engine start-stop technology, which switches off the powerplant on red traffic lights and in long road jams, and mated to an electronically controlled six-speed manual gearbox, the car delivers more mileage in urban driving.
PSA says that the 308 "Stop & Start" has fuel consumption of only 4.1L/100km [24.4km/liter]. The technology will be used on real cars in year 2011.

BTW "Stop & Start" technology is NOT the same as "Hybrid".
The 308 "Hybrid" is powered by a 1.6-liter HDi engine assisted by a 22bhp electric motor mated to a six-speed electronically-controlled manual gearbox. Together, these motors provide the car with 132hp of peak power, almost comparable to that of the Peugeot 308 140THP but more than 50% efficient. Replacing the traditional gasoline engine with diesel in a hybrid powertrain - increases fuel efficiency of a hybrid drive to an outstanding fuel economy of 3.4liter/100km [almost 30km/liter!]
