Is Your 308 Turbo Pulling to the Left?

myPeugeot 308 too, but barerable. I've no complain because mild pulls to one side is normal for a high-torque front wheel drive car.

This is called "Torque steer" - a condition in which the vehicle pulls to one side or the other, especially under acceleration.

Technically, torque steer is due to a mechanical condition, because of an inequality between the left and right drive shafts. Wheels or/and tires can also contribute to torque steer. There are ways of course to minimise if not totally eliminate the torque steer by employing equal-length drive shaft. Over corrected will also make car pulls to the opposite side under decelaration.

Nowadays the term torque steer can be as a result of any disturbance — such as straying from straight-line progress or tugging in the steering wheel — resulting from the front pair of wheels being asked both to power and steer the vehicle. Typically this is caused by a loss of traction by either front wheel, whether it’s due to slippery conditions or an overenthusiastic accelerator foot.

Some Electronic Stability Program [ESP] when switched on can result slight torque steer. True, mechanically induced torque steer may have been minimized, but the simple loss of traction for hi-torque cars in front wheels seems inevitable. This is precisely why only few FF vehicles are considered true sports cars. Real sport cars need to be RR, or at least FR confguration.

According StateMaster Encyclopedia any car having both an engine with high torque output (not less than 210N·m or 155lb-ft) and front wheel drive may exhibit some degree of torque steer. Unfortunately Peugeot 308 Turbo [front-wheel drive and having 240N.m of torque even at as low as 1400rmp!] belongs to this category.

However, for severe and unbearable Pulling to one side on a few number of Peugeot 308's as discussed in an internet forum is of course a defect. Somethin' has got to be done and Nassim has to act immediately in whichever way.
