Cerebral Vascular Accident

Almost four weeks ago (August 19th) I had an accident but nothing to do with cars and roads... it was Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA) as a result of Central Sleep Apnea  (CSA) - a condition in which I stop breathing while asleep.

CSA occurs because the brain doesn't send proper signals to the muscles that control breathing.. CVA is the sudden death of brain cells due to a problem with the blood supply. When blood flow to the brain is impaired, oxygen and important nutrients cannot be delivered. The result is injury and then death to brain cells resulting in abnormal brain function.

Spent almost a week in Serdang Specialist Hospital. Already been discharged but have to go to the hospital regularly for physio- and neuro-therapy. On the road to recovery now.  I'm not paralysed but the specialists advised me not to drive or travel during the first 100 days after the last episode of the Cerebral Vascular Accident.

Will be right back. InsyaAllah!

Hi Zentra,
Today is the 42nd day (end of 6th week)since I had the CVA on Aug 19.

Doctors advised me not to drive or travel anywhere during the first 100 days... except to the Hospital for consultation, medications and rehab.

BTW, I'm getting much better now, bp is back to around 110/70 +-15mmHg and stable since a week ago... hopefully can drive the car again by next week.

Hi!
I just read this post about your CVA. Hope that you have recovered and can resume your passion about cars. Regards.

Thanks ooifa. It has already been 4months since the last episode of the CVA. Now I'm 90% recovered and almost back to normal life, except I still have no confident to go swimming yet. Hopefully after the 6th month (mid March 2014) I'm going to be 95% OK. Cheers.
