I don't normally pay much attention on car detailing other than normal washing, cleaning and vacuuming until yesterday when I discovered cat_claw scratches on front wing and bonnet.
Normally when it rained stray cats would find higher and warmer place to enjoy good sleep. Nothing better than car bonnet. They are not human being - nothing much to say. Further more they are guards against rats and mice. So give and take la.
I used Soft99 rubbing compound to buff off those scratches in combination with Kit MaxWax to give truly shiny finish. For unscratched surface I applied Waxco Metallic & 2K car polish. The result was near show-room gloss again.
As the momentum built-up I applied Kit MaxWax to the barolo-red car to see if the later produced better gloss than the lunar mist. When compared head-to-head the barolo-red [maroon] color shines better.
I felt motivated and didn't mind to spend the whole day on Sunday 22 Nov 2009 to polish and wax both cars. I just used my left hand to do the buffing and waxing - no machines were used. The results were very high gloss, high reflective surfaces on both cars...
I also used Kit MaxWax to polish headlamp and tail lamp plastics. Very tiring work but satisfying end results...

Uncle, sierraglow is worth doing... I was skeptical at first but the results were astonishing. You don't need to wax your again... wax apparently, spoilts the paint...

Obviously red, maroon and other dark colors always look more glossy when polish-to-shine than lite_colors such as silver, aluminum, lunar mist and alike.
Professional buffing/polishing and surface sealants are excellent but doesn't prevent paintwork from getting scratches. From time to time the car needs polishing/buffing again.
Does sarra-glow offer minimum price for revisit if needed? I'm interested too.

actually wax does not spoils paint.. I think you are referring to sealant or cleaner wax that have cleaning agents that may damage the sierraglow coating when use are not proper .. anyhow i'm a diy detailer ..so .. diff standpoint.
Do agree with Uncle D, to keep car in tip top shape ..u need to polish at least once a year ... if you are washing outside - micro scratches will occur... and if you are careful enough (2 bucket system), polishing is not required until 3-5 years.
