Peugeot GTi Legacy Continues...

Many of us know the history of Peugeot’s GTi badge and loved the hot hatches, especially the legendary 205. According to a news not so long ago, Peugeot Marketing Director Christian Stein said “For us, the GTi concept is dead. We will move away from hot hatches towards premium sports coupes [similar to RCZ].”

Fortunately we have a good news - the French manufacturer has decided to continue the GTi badge yet again - the company wants to build the all new Peugeot GTi - that could become Peugeot finest and real hot hatchback since the departure of the 205. The new hot hatch to be called 208GTi aimed at the British and German markets where hot hatches are very popular.

Peugeot want to be re-known for their “precision, allure, style, driver control and excellence” ...and very keen to reinvigorate the reputation it once had for handling and roadholding.

The 208 GTi will be powered by 200THP 1.6liter petrol engine, similar engine which power up the top of the line RCZ. The 208 is expected to be launched in 2012, and seems to be the first Peugeot to be entirely developed based on the SR1 sports concept.
