Cheap Performance Tyres. Anybody interested?

Nexen N8000 is one of those. Is it really good? Be honest la...

Well, for the price Nexen N8000 is a good tyre for ride comfort, low noise, and good handling. Tyre proved quite good when new but after a few thousand km the grip in the wet disappeared completely despite of gigantic channels in them.

In general, Nexen N8000 tyres are only good for comfortable ride and low noise. That's it, nothing more. They do not match the top range tyres in terms of performance and become unusable even before reaching 20,000km!

It is softer than the factory fitted CSC3 on P308T. The sidewalls are so soft that you think that the tyre is bending like hell when you drive spirited and corner fast. If you are a spirited driver then stay away from these tyres.

I think better stick to one of these!

Welcome back uncle D, always look forward to your posts!

I also just changed to N8000s, can't be beat for the money. Mine is just over 1k km.

Dry grip is comparable to CSC3, but yes it does flex quite a bit under hard cornering. My solution is to pump a bit more air keke.

Wet grip no chance to try yet, but I have been told don't risk it...so will take it easy if it rains.

You have already switched all 4 tyres and mileage already 20k km? How are they so far in terms of NVH, and dry grip?

Hi Zentra, how r u doin' lately?
To be honest NVH reduction for N8000 is superb that I can barely hear road noise despite going over 140km/h.

For the first few thousand km dry grip is not too bad, which is understandable from the soft compound but on the wet I'm not as confident as driving on CSC3.

On the other hand CSC3 is a lot noisier even though hardly feel any vibration at any speed.

For safety on wet, still prefer the old CSC3 even though have to pay xtra price.

Agreed. NVH is excellent, but again it is true that N8000 mileage is very short. Most people have to replace them even before reaching 20,000km.
Even tho' replacement cost is considered cheap, in terms of cost/km is comparable with other more expensive long mileage performance tyres.

Thanks for sharing

Hello Uncle D,

My lion is coming to 2 years, going to do the 40k service next month. So far so good (touch wood!). Still enjoying it very much.

Your lion is immaculately maintained. Superb!

Isahaq, the N8000's treadwear is quite low, and I believe if I drive reasonably and rotate/balance the tyres every 10k I hope will last at least 30k km if not more.

cheers
