my308 Fuel Consumptions and Speeds

Urban driving:
Where the car has to stop at every less than 1km for traffic light and road junctions - very unlikely for the fuel consumption figure to be less than 10liter/100km [i.e not possible to achieve more than 10km/liter].
At RM1.80/liter of RON97, the 140THP power plant consumes around 18~20sen/km. Still not bad when compare to my405Sr which consumes fuel between 25~30sen/km when driven around town.

Highway:
The optimum fuel consumption is when the car is moving around 90~105kph.

Auto cruise is very useful to maintain this speed at which fuel seems to be sipping around 6~7liter/100km [14~16km/liter] - in sen, it is around 11~13 sen/km. What a frugal 140hp car indeed!

However when the speed is increased to around 110~120kph, the car takes in another 1~2 liter for every 100km to 7~8liter/100km.

Speeds:
I think my308 speedometer has about +2% error. But acceptable. The speedometer reading was compared with the data logged by satellite navigation devices. I used two units of such equipment to track and log the data.

The following are speedometer readings. In parenthesis are the exact speeds obtained from the GPS devices.

090kph [088kph]
110kph [108kph]
160kph [157kph]
180kph [176kph]
210kph [206kph] ... max!

I suspect the speed is electronically limited because the accelerating power [torque] from 190kph was ample, then suddenly flat out at 210kph [206kph] which prevents it from going faster...
[the exact coordinates are 'pixelated' for legal reason]

Uncle D, the GPS gives you a reading of vertical speed. So, its always shows a slower speed compared to your actual speed. The 308 speedometer is digital. It is very accurate...

May be u r right Alan. But my 206 speedometer gives almost similar reading as shown by the GPS. BTW I'm using Garmin NUVI610 and Garmin eTrex Vista HCx.

salam uncle D, i just wonder how it feels like driving the 308THP @ 210kph? does it feel safe & stable

hasnul,
At high speed [190kph and above] the car feel like "rock-steady".
I wished I could go faster but it seemed that the car is electronically limiting the speed to 210kph. I heard somebody has re-flash the ECU and managed to pass 215kph mark. To me if the car is able to be driven over 190kph is good enough already.

BTW, A 308GT owner, AlanWong managed to drive up to 220kph w/o any complains...but i think his car can still go up and beyond 225kph w/o any problem if he wish.

BTW driving 308 will make u feel miles just like km. Bayangkanlah, he heee...
