- 6-speed AT 156bhp 308?
The French manufacturer has developed a new engine for the Peugeot 308. The new engine is a 156bhp 1.6-litre Euro 5 compliant turbo-charged petrol. But wait a minute...
...the 156bhp engine and 6-speed AT are actually for the 308 CC and entry level RCZ. The new AT gearbox is a six-speed automatic designed by Aisin.

- Improved DRL [Daylight Roaming Lion] LEDs
The first LED conversion light bulbs bought for DRL were bright enough but the light beams didn't make full use of the reflector and the beam angle was too low. The second set of LED had made full use of the reflector but the direct beams were not bright enough.

I have an idea to combine both LED conversion bulbs like this...
....in all there are 30 LEDs now. The front cluster of 12 LEDs can also be adjusted L-R and Up-Down.

Now when the 30 LEDs are turned on for the 'Daylight Roaming Lion' ...
....probably light intensity per steradians is as intense as HID!

March 20th 2010 - which color temperature is 'best' for the headlight?
Any color but must comply with [or conform to] JPJ regulations- i.e not to exceed 4700K.... or probably 5000K still no problem but certainly anything more than 5000K sure 'kena'!. There must be good reasons why.
Actually the best color temperature should fall in between 4300K to 4700K for normal driving. When driving in rain lower color temperatures are better for contrast.

After deciding which color to choose, its the time to shop around for HID conversion KIT. HIDs are cheap these days. Click for What is HID?

- Warranty Claim
Drove AHW308 to KS @ Jln Chan Sow Lin to replace one of the two-tone malfunction
horns [foc of course]. Now the dual-tone sound is much better every time I HONK the HORN to alert stray cats which seek shelter under the warm hood of a car. These cats are actually guards against rats from damaging car wiring harness.

Asked also for brake pads quotation - I was told that front pad set=RM488, rear=RM290 [total would be RM778! ] If the brake pads last up to 30,000km then the consumption will be 2.6sen/km, higher than my early estimate [2.3 sen/km]!

After that I drove to Asli Auto Part off Jln Klang Lama to get another quotation for the ori brake pads. I was offered RM700 [exactly 10% cheaper] for a set of 8 ori brake pads.

Tomorrow, Feb 28th AHW308 will be exactly 1yr old otr.

- How to make rear passenger comfortable.
Remember that Peugeot 308T is a driver's hatch so...
As far as the driver and front passenger space is concerned nobody complains. In fact interior width is about 2" wider than the old Merc W124 E-class . The overall front volume is also as large as most executive cars [see relative size for comparison HERE] and larger than midi MPVs such as Citra [1748mm] , Wish [1745mm] and Stream [1695mm]. Peugeot 308 is 1815mm wide!

What lacking is the seat for rear passengers. Even though the legroom is adequate for average ppl the seat back is almost 90deg and the head restrain is not comfortable for rear passenger on long distance trip.

There is a solution though. I normally travel with my spouse and 12yr kid. I always make a sleeping berth for the first-class comfort as I normally travel at night or before dawn.

Rear passenger never complain.

- Peugeot 207 Special Edition
Peugeot has unveiled the 207 S16 special edition based on the 207 Sport 1.6 VTi three-door.

The car has rally-inspired graphics (which mimic those found on Meeke's IRC winning 207 S2000 rally car), a 207 RC Cup bodykit (with front and rear spoilers, aerodynamic side skirts, and a faux rear diffuser). Other styling touches include a mesh grille, dark tinted windows, and 17-inch Hockenheim alloy wheels.

Unfortunately the S16 does not feature any performance upgrades. Powered by normal 1.6-liter VTi petrol engine. Only 250 special editions will be produced in the UK.

Salam Uncle.

Thanks again for the most valuable information.

I have a question for Uncle. As recently posted in Autoworld forum, some members said it's uncomfortable to sit at the rear sit, to the point of giving the passengers backache. What is your opinion, Uncle? Did you try to sit at the back for a long journey?

Thanks again :)

Hi Jesse,
Eventhough 308 is a driver's car, rear passenger will feel 'first class' comfort by folding down 40% or 60% of the back seat to make a sleeping bert.

I normally drive the car at night and don't carry more than 2 passengers in the 308 on long-distance travels. Sometimes I sleep comfortably while my son drive the car.
